Depicting Maryland-born abolitionist and scholar Frederick Douglass (1818-1895) as impassioned, young orator in Ireland. Designed by an English sculptor and cast in Wales. Situated in Frederick Douglass plaza. Funded by private gifts, UMD Foundation funds, and grants from the Maryland Commission on African American History and Culture and the Maryland Historical Trust.
