One of 50 University of Maryland "Fear the Turtle" painted fiberglass terrapins that were on public art exhibition on campus for Maryland's 150th Anniversary Celebration. While most were on-campus, some appeared in Baltimore and other venues around the state of MD, plus D.C., for six months. They were auctioned off for scholarship money. Artists hailed from Mid-Atlantic region and had a $1,000 budget. Some sculptures, such as Kertle, remain on campus in various locations--not necessarily their original spots.</text>
