                <text>Campbell taught stone carving for 15 years at the University of Maryland. His work is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. He was an abstract sculptor associated with the direct carving movement. These works, Night and Day, inspired by neolithic implements, once stood on the campus mall, in front of H. J. Patterson Hall, but no longer! Where have they gone? Artist's CV reports that in 1972: "Night and Day moved from Vermont by University of Maryland, and installed on campus at College Park. Placed on ten-year loan to university, and the loan is later extended." Still around in 2019.</text>

Kaskey taught architecture at the University of Maryland (1969-1976) but was denied tenure, according to Bergen's article. He is famous for the 38-foot hammered copper sculpture, Portlandia (1985), on the Portland Public Services Building in Portland, Oregon--a building exemplary of postmodern architecture. Kaskey also sculpted the lions for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and reliefs for the National World War II Memorial, both in Washington, DC, where the sculptor is based.</text>
